Storage suggestions
• Use good quality boxes that are strong enough to handle the weight.
• Glass and kitchenware should be packaged in paper, plastic bubble-rap or foam.
• Paintings and frames should be placed in special boxes for such purpose.
• Tag all the boxes on each side for easily locating items.
• Remember to mark as “fragile” when necessary.
• Determine the size of the boxes before storing items. Use small boxes for storing heavier items such as books. Bigger boxes should be used to store lighter things like pillows, etc.
• There are Wardrobe® Boxes for storing clothes on hangers.
• All of the fragile items should be stored and packaged individually.
• If you did not kept your household electrical appliances boxes, you can buy special ones for that purpose. Use plastic bubble wrap or another type of plastic before storing in boxes.
• If you dismantle any furniture, keep the screws, nuts and others in a small zip lock type bag. Keep them next to that specific piece of furniture.
• Never overfill a box, because this makes its storage more difficult.
• Remove the pedestals from furniture and package them in bubble wrap.
• The boxes that are not completely full can collapse and will not be stable enough to mount one on top of the other.
• Use pallets or plywood sheets to help keep your belongings from direct contact with the floor. In this way helping to avoid humidity.
• Use stands to help organize the warehouse.
• Organize the unit in a way that frequently used items are to the front.
• Make sure to visit your warehouse at least once a month.
• When storig household electrical appliances with cords, it is recommended that you place a small colored tape on both ends (cord and connector).
• Make sure that your belongings are cleaned before packing them.
• Place mattresses along the storage unit and make sure there is no contact with the floor.
• In order to not stain the floors with oil or any other kinds of liquid when storing machinary, we recommend that they are cleaned and dried before storing them.
• If your belongings are valuable, get insurance.
DO NOT
... use plastics bags for wrapping your belongings because they will retain the humidity if the environment is very humid.
... use newspapers for wrapping because the ink can stain your belongings.
... store foods or perishable items because they may cause bad odors and attract insects or animals.
... provide your access code to strangers.
